  • Justin DePlato, associate professor of political science, has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholar Grant. DePlato will be teaching in the department of international relations at the University of Malta in Spring, 2021. His extensive publication record, teaching experience, and expertise in American politics and political theory were cited as reasons for the grant.   • The RMU 100: Ready to Rise fundraising campaign has now raised $95 million toward our $100 million goal! Thanks to so many generous donors, the RMU 100 campaign is close to reaching its fundraising goal ahead of schedule. See more about the campaign here.
  • RMU in the News has been updated with the latest (ok, since December) news media coverage of the university, including RMU's agreement with FedEx Ground.
  • Tonight (Friday) the UPMC Events Center will host the 85 South Comedy Show. The Upper and Lower UPMC Events Center parking lots will be reserved all day Friday for attendees, and the Barry Center lot will also be reserved for concert goers beginning at 5 p.m. Please plan accordingly for your classes and other campus activities, and we thank you in advance for your patience.

Personal Mention

  • Justin DePlato also published a book titled, The United States Supreme Court and Politics: Judicial Retirements, the Docket, and the Nomination Process. While common-sense attitudes towards the United States Supreme Court have been focused on what decisions they are likely to make, this book aims to focus on the impacts of other politicized elements of the Court. 
  • Sylvia Pamboukian, professor of English and associate director of the university honors program, was invited to lecture on “Agatha Christie and the Poison Garden” for the Reynolds Medical History Society, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School.

Upcoming Events

  • Rooney Scholar Klas Borell will hold a lecture on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the Wheatley Center Atrium. His lecture is titled, "Beyond the Traditional Family? A Life Course Perspective on Family Life in Sweden." The event is from noon to 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. 
  • The first RMU Roundtable of the spring semester will be presented by Soren Fanning, associate professor of history. His roundtable discussion on national identity will take place on Feb. 13 from 2-3:15pm in Franklin 203. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend!
