  • Media Arts majors Alexa Headley and Gage McCall won first place in desktop publishing at the FBLA-PBL State Leadership Conference in Harrisburg and have been selected to compete at the National Leadership Conference this June in San Antonio, Texas.
  • RMU Sentry Media brought 23 Society of Collegiate Journalists national awards back to campus this year. There were over 150 entries being judged by professionals in their field.

  • RMU's Covestro Center for Community Engagement recently released its quarterly e-newsletter, Building Bridges, for distribution. 
  • Tau Sigma, the national honor society for transfer students, has started a chapter at Robert Morris and held its induction ceremony last Monday in the Wheatley Atrium. The honor society recognizes academic excellence and involvement of its members, who must have transferred at least 24 credit hours and hold a 3.5 GPA. 

Personal Mention

  • Ann D. Jabro, university professor of communication, was invited to join nearly 150 industry professionals and academics in New York City to judge the Public Relations Society of America's Silver Anvil Awards. The Silver Anvils are icons of best public relations practices that incorporate sound insights, analysis, planning, execution and evaluation. Entries address contemporary issues with exemplary professional skill, creativity and resourcefulness. Jabro worked with a professional team to judge 22 corporate social responsibility campaign entries. Brianna Stevens, account executive from Havas Public Relations and former RMU public relations student also served as a judge.

Upcoming Events

  • The Center for Veterans and Military Families invites you to celebrate their 2018-'19 graduating class on April 3 from 5-7:30 p.m. in Yorktown Hall. The celebration will include dinner and an open bar. Please RSVP by TODAY.
  • The RMU Health Services Administration Program is hosting a networking and education event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 1 in the Yorktown Hall Westinghouse Room. "Healthcare Emergency Preparedness: Requirements, Best Practices, and Lessons Learned" will feature an expert panel including keynote speaker Mark Ross, vice president for emergency preparedness at the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania.   • On April 6 the RMU Counseling Center is hosting their 3rd Out of the Darkness Walk in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The Out of the Darkness Walk raises awareness of a very important cause and provides educational materials for those who may need help or want to learn more. It is free to create a team and participate in the walk! There will be various activities offered throughout the event. For more information and to register yourself or a team, go to afsp.org/rmu.  
  • The RMU Center for Cyber Research and Training is hosting the first  Cyber-Tech Women's Symposium on April 12 at Yorktown Hall. Panelists and speakers include Summer Craze Fowler, chief security officer at Argo AI, and Amber Schroader, founder and CEO of the Paraben Corporation. Learn more and register here.
  • Launching this summer is the new MS in Cyber Investigation and Intelligence graduate degree program. The Office of Graduate Admissions is hosting a  lunch and learn for those considering an Integrated program or graduate degree. Stop by the Heritage Room in Nicholson Center between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m, on April 17. Grab a lunch and meet with the program coordinator, Frank Hartle, assistant professor of criminal justice. Space is limited. RSVP to dunckel@rmu.edu or visit the Office of Admissions.
