  • Congratulations to Won Joo, Arif Sirinterlikci, and Rika Carlsen, all faculty members in SEMS, for receiving a grant from the PA Manufacturing Program. This is the second grant the engineering department has received from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for their project titled "Implementation of User Feedback to Improve 3D Printed Orthotics & Prosthetics Design Manufacturing Process". The PA Manufacturing Innovation Program leverages the internationally acclaimed science and engineering talent and discovery capacity of all Pennsylvania’s institutions of higher education to help ensure that Pennsylvania remains a national and international leader in manufacturing and achieves the full economic potential for good, well-paying manufacturing jobs.

  • On August 31, the university will launch the RMU Outreach and Innovation Center, whichwill build on a successful model of cross-disciplinary research to strengthen the culture of collaboration on campus, with regional partners, and in the broader community. The Outreach and Innovation Center, formerly the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Science Research and Outreach Center (SEMS-ROC) will serve all four schools at Robert Morris University. The center will broaden outreach activities beyond existing programs in STEM education to include nursing, media arts, computing information services, engineering, data science, criminal justice, cyber forensics, and life sciences.   • Karen Paullet, associate professor of computer and information systems, recently published an article in the International Journal of Cyber Research and Education titled, "Cyberstalking: An Analysis of Students' Online Activity." Paullet co-authored the article with Adnan Chawdhry, associate professor at Cal U and RMU alumnus.
     
  • Ken Lasota, associate professor of geology and earth sciences, was named "Pennsylvania Mayor of the Year" for 2020 by the Pennsylvania State Boroughs Association. Lasota has been serving Heidelberg in many capacities over his 22 years as mayor, earning him this distinction.
