The creative marketplace for fonts has exploded and we see decorative fonts everywhere, but how does one select and use typefaces effectively? In this 3-course certificate, students will gain hands-on experience in the application of design principles to written language, through creative projects centered on typographic expression and the clear communication of words on the screen, page, and other surfaces.

This certificate is a useful and enjoyable course of study for individuals interested in visual communication but who may not have completed an entire course of study in graphic design. It will benefit social media practitioners, professional and technical writers, software engineers, animators, and business professionals who may need to work alongside, supervise, or source work from professional graphic designers or who must make visual decisions about the layout of text.
