From his time as a student to his current role as director of the Center for Student Success, Paul Spradley ‘03 M’06 has had a large impact on students’ paths to success. Paul manages the team that helps students by providing tutoring and workshops, and also assisting them with getting more involved on campus. Paul also the CEO and co-founder of Care Based Leadership Collaborative, which offers professional development education workshops.

Paul is the vice president of the African American Alumni Association. It provides African American alumni a way to connect with their alma mater and supports philanthropic efforts to provide students from underrepresented populations with scholarships and opportunities they may not have had otherwise. “Even if I hadn’t come back to work at Robert Morris, it would still be very important to me because it’s very deep in my bones,” Paul says.

In his former role with Multicultural Student Services, Paul implemented the Theodore Jones Award, chosen by students to honor a faculty or staff member who demonstrates excellence in inclusiveness. He has also worked to make the campus more welcoming and accepting, especially by encouraging students to branch out into new and different organizations. “That’s our secret sauce,” he says. “That’s what makes RMU magical. It’s not a cookie cutter approach.”
