First Year Seminar Program
The First Year Seminar Program (FYSP1000) is a 1-credit course designed to support student learning and development in the first semester of college. This is achieved through acclimating students to the academic and social environments of Robert Morris University. Students will identify personal strengths, develop skills, and begin to explore motivation. FYSP gives our students the potential to increase opportunities for success in the first year and beyond.
Incoming students are registered for FYSP1000 in the first semester. Course sections are designated by academic school and lead by a peer mentor and a professional staff instructor. The curriculum is designed to orient students to RMU, learn expectations and goals, and develop a launching point for major and career exploration. In-class assignments are supplemented with social programming for campus engagement and connection.
