  • PITT OHIO, a leader in regional and national logistics services, has given the Robert Morris University School of Business $225,000 to bolster the university’s business logistics programs, kickstarting a partnership that will include internships for RMU students and professional development opportunities for PITT OHIO employees. The agreement calls for PITT OHIO and RMU to work together through the university’s Center for Sales Excellence to develop new content for the university’s undergraduate and graduate business logistics programs. That will include guest lectures from PITT OHIO experts.PITT OHIO will also provide mentorship and internship opportunities for RMU students pursuing careers in sales and logistics and will develop case studies for the university through the RMU Accelerate program. And PITT OHIO will sponsor logistics competitions, with the first to take place on October 30. Read more here.

  • RMU and SkillStorm, a tech talent accelerator that hires, trains, certifies, and deploys IT talent, announced a partnership this week to offer pathways to entry-level job opportunities within the tech industry to RMU graduates and alumni. The partnership provides RMU graduates and alumni with additional pathways to entry-level tech positions at Fortune 100 companies that can catapult their careers. Through SkillStorm’s NexGen - Hire, Train and Deploy Program, graduates are hired upon passing a tech proficiency test. Through SkillStorm they are paid during the 12-week training program where they will learn advanced skills and obtain certifications in enterprise technologies that may include Pega, Salesforce, AWS, Azure, Java, Robotics, ServiceNow and others.   • The Department of Education in the School of Nursing, Education and Human Studies is newly accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is the professional organization that sets national standards for programs that prepare early childhood teachers of children from birth through age 8. NAEYC accredits eligible associate, baccalaureate, and master's degree early childhood education programs that demonstrate evidence of meeting the NAEYC Professional Preparation Standards. Only 185 institutions nationwide have earned this distinction.

  • Admissions will be holding their Fall Discovery Days on Saturday, October 16 and Saturday, November 13, in the UPMC Event sCenter at 9 a.m. High school students and transfer students are invited to join us to talk to faculty, staff, and current students, as well as participate in an academic and activity fair. If your department is interested in participating, please reach out to Amanda Beal at beal@rmu.edu. If you know anybody that may be interested in attending the Discovery Day, they can RSVP here.

  • Nicole Mazine has been promoted to assistant director of Transfer Admissions, Gateway Coordinator. Since coming to RMU in 2015, she has been an exceptional member of the transfer/online admissions team and has contributed her expertise and hard work to many areas of admissions. 

  • The Financial Aid Office recently welcomed Dawn Geregach to their team, as the new financial aid counselor for undergraduate students with last names beginning P-Z. Previously, she spent many years in Athletics as the athletics administrative services coordinator. 

Personal Mention

  • The RMU Library had a victorious week with two medal winners! Library Department Head Chloe Mills won gold in her division at Grappling Industries, Pittsburgh’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi and No-Gi Round Robin Tournament while RMU Library Student Worker Maria Ringo helped her team win silver in the Three Rivers Rowing Associations’ Head of the Ohio race.
