    • Yesterday RMU groundskeeper John Tucci was named "President for a Day," a title earned after the university exceeded its Day of Giving goal to get 1,001 people donate to RMU. After his official swearing in ceremony, Tucci spent the day spreading kindness across the university, which can be seen in the RMU Instagram story.
    • The School of Business is proud to announce that the new Center for Sales Excellence has been unanimously approved for associate membership into the University Sales Center Alliance, a consortium of university sales centers nationwide. 
    • RMU's Department of Communication welcomed four Pittsburgh-area journalists to campus on Feb. 17 to discuss current industry trends with students. The journalists were Andrew Chiappazzi (Beaver County-Times), Mike Fuoco (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), Amy Hudak (WPXI) and Lisa Washington (KDKA).
    • RMU has maintained its Military Friendly Bronze Rating for 2020-2021, ranking it among the top Military Friendly universities in the country. 

    Personal Mention

    • Earlier this month University Professor of Economics Brian O’Roark lectured at the Ripley Center in Washington, D.C. The lecture was part of the  Economics+ series at the Smithsonian, which examines economics from unexpected and entertaining perspectives. O'Roark lectured on "Economics + Dystopian Literature," telling the large crowd how dystopian literature -- which chronicles a future in which a cataclysmic event has wiped out a portion of the population and often  the world as we know it is now dominated by a totalitarian system of government -- offers a perfect setting for an economic analysis.

      • Please join the Media Arts Gallery and Visiting Artist and Scholar Program for PXL’s closing reception and Wahila Creative’s artist talk from noon - 2 p.m. in the Media Arts Gallery and Wheatley Atrium. PXL is an exhibition featuring the interactive work of Wahila Creative. PXL is fun. Fun in the shape of LED cubes that you can interact with from your phone.
      • In collaboration with the Heinz History Center, the Center for Documentary Production & Study and Media Arts Department cordially invite you to a screening of "What Does Trouble Mean?: Nate Smith’s Revolution," on Wednesday, February 26 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Heinz History Center. Produced by Robert Morris University’s Center for Documentary Production & Study, this feature documentary follows the journey of Black laborer leader Nate Smith and his unexpected evolution into charismatic leadership, forced integration of Pittsburgh’s construction trade unions in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
    • February 27
      • The second RMU Roundtable of the spring semester will be presented by Heather Pinson, associate professor of media arts and humanities. Her roundtable discussion on jazz photography will take place from 11-12:15 p.m. in Hale 203. Her discussion will unpack characteristics of the music that are transformed visually and will explore aspects of resistance and cultural appropriation found in jazz photography.

      • The Center for Veterans and Military Families is excited to host the region's TRICARE representative from 1 - 2 p.m. Faculty, staff, students, and/or family members who qualify for the program are highly encouraged to attend. TRICARE is the uniformed services health care program for active duty service members, active duty family members, National Guard and Reserve members and their family members, retirees and retiree family members, survivors, and certain former spouses worldwide. Please RSVP here.
    • April 5
      • RMU is partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to unite the campus community for its 6th annual Out of the Darkness Campus Walk. This special event raises awareness of suicide as a health issue, brings comfort to those in the campus community who have been impacted by a suicide loss, and helps to educate our young adults about mental health and how and when to seek help.
