Gavin Buxton, professor of physics, has co-authored a paper published in Advanced Functional Materials, a journal of engineering and materials science. The paper, titled "pH‐Responsive Catalytic Janus Motors with Autonomous Navigation and Cargo‐Release Functions," looks at particles that undergo catalytically-driven propulsion to swell and selectivelyl release a drug in a more acidic environment. Because tumors have a more acidic environment, it is hoped that this work could eventually be applied to chemotherapy.

The RMU Department of Athletics announced Tuesday a partnership with Athlete Network, the No. 1 engagement platform for current and alumni student-athletes. The partnership will launch the Robert Morris Athlete Network, a branded and customized technology platform to organize, promote and track the programs and services offered to all current and former student-athletes. The first Northeast Conference athletic department to select Athlete Network to power its customized network, the technology solution provides cutting edge data insights and reporting to athletic administrators, enhances the letterwinners club and offers a robust mentoring program for all generations of RMU student-athletes past, present and future. - The RMU Undergraduate Research Conference scheduled for Friday, April 24 will still take place. The format of the research conference will be different than in past years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year our tentative plan is to use Google Hangouts to live stream 10-minute presentations to the RMU community. All presentations will take place online the afternoon of April 24. More information to follow.
