This week, a dozen Eat’n Park restaurant employees began a specialized course in service quality and customer relationships at RMU. The 10-week online course is taught by University Professor of Marketing Jill Maher and focuses on transferable skills that are valuable in a variety of hospitality and retail careers. Students were selected by their general managers and identified as highly motivated new or aspiring managers. The program is part of Reimagine Retail, a project of the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program to improve job quality and career advancement opportunities in retail and related sectors. The Allegheny Conference on Community Development, one of six local partners of the nationwide project, worked with Eat’n Park Hospitality Group and Robert Morris University to create the 10-week online career development course. The program is overseen by Derya Jacobs, vice president for corporate relations and senior vice provost.

RMU's School of Business has received an extension of accreditation for AACSB. For over a century, AACSB accreditation has been synonymous with the highest standards in business education and has been earned by only 5 percent of the world's schools offering business degrees at the bachelor level or higher.
- RMU partnered with Gallup to host a webinar about the university's use of Gallup research and surveys to assess the experience of undergraduate students and the success and well-being of alumni. Participating in the webinar were President Howard and Dave Majka, vice president for planning and administration and associate professor of learning resources. The president and Majka discussed the webinar and RMU's partnership with Gallup on the organization's blog.
- The RMU D1 ACHA Hockey Team won the College Hockey Mid-America conference championship in a thrilling 8-7 overtime win over Slippery Rock University. The team won an automatic bid to nationals in Dallas from March 21-26.
- The Massey Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation will hold its grand opening on March 12. All are invited to visit the opening of the new space on the 1st floor of Massey Hall anytime between 3-6 p.m.

- Congratulations to Heather A. Jericho, Academic Services Specialist Center for Veterans and Military Families for a flawless audit, zero exceptions, conducted by the Pennsylvania State Approving Agency for the United States Veterans Administration in February. This is the fifth flawless audit with zero exceptions. These random audits are conducted to ensure that each college or university is complying with federal law authorizing the payment of veterans’ benefits to their school and the veteran.

- All are invited to attend the Fourth Annual Women & Transformational Leadership Symposium presented by the Women's Leadership & Mentorship Program. The 2019 Symposium is a two-day conference focused on the advancement of women and systemic change to eliminate gender bias and inequity. The event highlights visionary leaders addressing innovation, change, and equity through interactive workshops and panel discussions. The Symposium will take place at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport Hotel on Thursday, March 28th and Friday, March 29th. Click here for information and registration.
- On April 6 the RMU Counseling Center is hosting their 3rd Out of the Darkness Walk in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The Out of the Darkness Walk raises awareness of a very important cause and provides educational materials for those who may need help or want to learn more. It is free to create a team and participate in the walk! There will be various activities offered throughout the event. For more information and to register yourself or a team, go to afsp.org/rmu.
- The RMU Health Services Administration Program is hosting a networking and education event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 1 in the Yorktown Hall Westinghouse Room. "Healthcare Emergency Preparedness: Requirements, Best Practices, and Lessons Learned" will feature an expert panel including keynote speaker Mark Ross, vice president for emergency preparedness at the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania. All fans are welcome to attend, and food/drinks are on us. Co-hosting the show once again is the RMU Hall of Fame Voice of the Colonials Chris Shovlin.
