- Association for Computing Machinery
-
The School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (SEMS) has an active student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). A bi-weekly meeting is held on Monday at 5:00 PM in John Jay 329, the SEMS Student Activities Office (above the gym).
ACM is the world's oldest and largest educational and scientific computing society. Since 1947 ACM has provided a vital forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and discoveries. Today, ACM serves a membership of computing professionals and students in more than 100 countries in all areas of industry, academia, and government.
ACM delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. The student chapter is involved in community service, assisting organizations with PC services and hardware through the Computing Machinery Community Outreach program and volunteering with the Future City Pittsburgh event. We participate yearly in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Programming Contest and have begun work on the Elevator Challenge.
The student chapter proudly serves the RMU engineering and IS student body by providing several important academic and professional services. The Internship Assistance Program was started to provide accurate listings of local internships at reputable companies. The Academic Mentoring Program is designed to help underclassmen understand the merits, needs, and value of various course offerings and elective choices
The National and Local chapters have a variety of resources at the disposal of their members, from online courses and books to professional publications and journals. The ACM hosts a job search similar to MonsterTRAK specific to computing professions.

- Association for Operations Management
-
APICS is an international organization that focuses on supply chain and operations management. At Robert Morris our student chapter is open to everyone of any major though those in business and engineering may find these topics very relevant for their future careers.
As a student chapter we are supported by the APICS Pittsburgh Chapter, and attend monthly Pittsburgh Chapter Professional Development meetings. These meetings not only provide a chance to see behind of the scenes of local businesses and companies, but provide a chance to meet local leaders in the supply chain and operations management industries. In 2014, RMU APICS toured Kennywood, the Pittsburgh International Airport, and other facilities!
We also have our own events, the most recent include seeing how the Island Sports Center is operated and going to Pirates Game to celebrate the end of the year. Plans are always underway for new events! Our goal is to give any and all students a chance to see how businesses are run and to listen to what students are interested in and mold club activities to match those interests.

- Top Secret Colonials
-
The Top Secret Colonials is a student organization on Cybersecurity and professional development. Our mission is to promote Cybersecurity education outside of the classroom while raising awareness about security concerns within the cyber realm. Our organization hosts several speaker series that feature professionals working in the specific fields such as Cybersecurity and Information Technology. These speaker series promote networking and educational opportunities not given within a typical classroom experience. Additionally, the organization hosts multiple fundraising events to help alleviate costs for all the educational experiences the organization has to offer. In the fall of 2019, The Gaming Marathon Fundraiser raised over $1500 that was then donated to Children's Miracle Network. Every year TSC promotes attendance to the Washington Center's National Security Seminar hosted in Washington, D.C. In 2014, RMU was nationally recognized with the University of the Year Award thanks to the efforts of TSC during the seminar.
