- RMU announced Thursday that Logan Bittle has been named head coach of the NCAA Division I women's ice hockey program. Bittle, a native of Peoria, Ill., returns to RMU after spending the last year as head coach of the Pens Elite 19U Girls Prep and 16U Girls teams. Prior to joining Pens Elite, Bittle spent 10 years at RMU, the first four as an assistant coach and the last six as associate head coach. Read more here.

The Center for Global Engagement is hosting a lecture at noon on Wednesday, February 9, by the Spring 2022 Rooney International Visiting Scholar, Marina Fontolan, titled "Gaming in Brazil, a history." Fontolan is a historian of science and technology studies at University of Campinas in Brazil. Her talk will take place in person in the Wheatley Atrium, and can also be viewed remotely here.

The Center for Innovation and Outreach would like to extend a special invitation to attend a virtual Innovation Speaker Series with RMU Alumni Rich Archer (also a trustee) and Brian Blohm, titled "KPMG's Drive for Innovation." The event takes place from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, February 10. Archer and Blohm will describe the initial approach by KPMG to initiate and establish a culture of innovation across the organization. While KPMG has historically embraced innovative and creative approaches to client service, the rapid advancement of tools, capabilities, and industry escalation has led to an ever increasing need for innovation in all sectors of client service. They will discuss ways KPMG rolled out this approach to innovation, initial methods used, and interesting means of advancing this initiative. Additionally, some trends within various industries towards innovative work approaches will be discussed. Please register using this link.

As part of the Roger Gillan Program Speakers Series, the Department of Arts and Humanities will host a panel discussion Thursday, February 10, featuring novelist Megan Lucas, author of Songbirds & Stray Dogs. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Wheatley Center Atrium and will focus on careers in writing and the publishing industry. Other panelists include Eliada Griffin El, the director of the Massey Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation; Sarah Monroe, marketing manager and acquisitions editor, West Virginia University Press; and Sara J. Gunkel '13, author of Dear Santa Paws. Anyone is welcome to attend this free event and should RSVP to Edward Karshner at karshner@rmu.edu.

The Career and Professional Development Center will be hosting two career fairs this Spring:
In-Person Career Fair will be held Wednesday, February 23, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the UPMC Events Center. More than 75 employers will be participating. Student Registration begins January 24 via Handshake.
Virtual Career Fair will be held Tuesday, March 15, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. via Handshake.com. Students can sign up for 10-minute, one-on-one and 30-minute, group employer sessions. Student Registration begins February 21 via Handshake.
