  • RMU announced that we've surpassed our goal of getting $100 million dollars raised before our centennial celebration on September 21, 2021. The RMU 100: Ready to Rise campaign brought in funds for scholarships academic programs, and new facilities. This historic fundraising campaign has taken in more than twice as much as the university’s previous campaign, Changing Lives, Building Futures, which ended in 2012 and raised $40.5 million.   • Five RMU Marching Show Band members have been selected to participate in the College Band Directors National Association Virtual Intercollegiate Marching Band. The national committee is comprised of collegiate band directors from across the country. Their performance will be broadcast during the college football national championship on January 11. The five students are:
    • Alex Downs, trombone
    • Grace Fertenbaugh, alto saxophone
    • Josh Horn, sousaphone
    • Taylor Pannett, dance team
    • Josh Pitcock, trumpet
  • The School of Engineering Mathematics and Science has received a $246,878 Department of Defense grant for an AIM Consortium proposal titled “Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing Consortium for Southwestern Pennsylvania and West Virginia." In this three-year project RMU is responsible for conducting workshops, seminars, and other training in 3-D or additive manufacturing. Maria Kalevitch, dean of SEMS is the principal investigator and Arif Sirinterlikci, associate dean, is the co-principal investigator for this project.

  • President Howard has been named to the Board of Directors of the Markle Foundation. The Markle Foundation works to realize the potential of technology to achieve breakthroughs in addressing some of the nation’s most pressing issues. Markle challenges itself and diverse partners to deploy their varied expertise to identify solutions and achieve systemic change. Today as advanced technology and automation change the very nature of work, Markle’s priority is advancing solutions toward a labor market that will enable workers in America to move into good jobs in the digital economy.
