  • In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, The Women's Leadership and Mentorship Program and Center for Global Engagement are offering SET credit to students who submit a short reflection on an inspiring international woman in their field. This reflection will be transformed into a social media post (posted publicly via WLMP and CGE) that informs, inspires and empowers. WLMP and CGE are asking all RMU Departments, Faculty/Staff members and the wider RMU community to support this campaign by reposting this content using the hashtag #RMUWomensDay and encouraging all students to submit a reflection. Submissions will be accepted throughout March. Click here to learn how to get involved!
  • The RMU Center for Innovation and Outreach hosted a financial literacy workshop, "Teens & Taxes" on March 3. This virtual workshop provided information and direct instruction on the details of filing taxes to high school students and families. Students tend to carry these preconceived notions about taxing being "too hard"  into their own adult lives, impacting whether they file income taxes on time, procrastinate or even attempt to avoid the process altogether. Tax time provides a teachable moment to inform teens and influence their future actions to be based more on knowledge. This workshop was designed for students grades 9-12 and featured Gregory Krivacek, associate professor of accounting, and Maya Orlove, a member of SGA and a sophomore in accounting and finance. Materials were mailed to students in advance. This opportunity was advertised to school counselors, family and consumer science teachers, and math departments to provide a rare offering at this valuable life skill. If you are interested in hosting a workshop for another life/soft skill please contact RMU CIO Outreach Manager Sarah Moore at moores@rmu.edu.
